Komakech Bishop

Komakech Bishop was once known as “head boy” for the soccer team. This young man loves the game and is a pensive yet strong athlete and leader. His leadership stretches from the fields to his home, where as orphans, he and his sister take care of thier younger sibblings together. Bishop loves his family dearly and spends hours playing  cards with them or teaching them soccer.

A kind uncle (who has his own large family) is the only financial income of the orphaned sibblings. Even with his generosity, the family receives a meager 50,000 Ush (equivalent to about $30.00 USD) a month to pay for their rent, food and other needs. Any money that can be scraped up at the end of the month goes toward school fees, but as the oldest male Bishop is required to raise his own funding to attend secondary school ($200-300 USD). Bishop was demure in his request when he asked Firelight for a sponsorship, explaining that education is the families "only source of light" and that his schooling could bring them "a future".

Through a Firelight sponsorship, Bishop is currently in his first year of secondary school and still doing his favorite things-spending time with people--talking about soccer and playing cards.
